I have strong links with the old Labour Party too, in fact Phil Goff once told me Labour needed more people like me and that I should run for Labour. I laughed and said the last thing the Labour Party needed was me as a candidate.
The reality is old Labour no longer exists, it has never really recovered from the neoliberal hit job by finance minister and Act founder Roger Douglas, the way I see it for you as a Labour loyalist is, under MMP, you’re not abandoning Labour by party voting Greens particularly if like me you live in an electorate with a strong Labour candidate and can vote ❤️ & 💚 you are actually helping Labour become truer to its origins.
Not sure if Phil Goff would agree but then again that’s why I would have been more trouble for Labour than he would have anticipated. 😉
