Bitcoin faces this risk too or is it already battle hardened enough because it’s been in the open for so long?

The bounty for “breaking bitcoin” is pretty fucking big. There’s a multi-billion dollar prize to be won for finding a way to move someone else’s coins without having the keys.

Given Bitcoin has been around for 17 years, all code is available to anyone with a laptop, and the price has been up for grabs since day 1, we can slowly start to conclude that it’s highly unlikely such an exploit is possible at the code base layer.
