⚡️💬 Here's what I think:

1. Several countries will require age verification to access social networks.

2. VPN use will increase

3. These countries will ban VPNs, claiming they are doing so "to protect children".

4. They will then create a universal digital ID system to facilitate age verification.

5. Digital IDs will become mandatory to access the Internet.

6. The government will run live detection AI on all your activities

7. The government will use this data to "fight crime" by persecuting anyone daring to express an opinion deviating from the official line.

Your only 2 exit cards:

- Decentralize your money with bitcoin
- Decentralize all your infrastructures: cloud storage, social networks with Nostr.

First social networks then search engines then the internet in general. Australia is leading the way https://michaelwest.com.au/search-the-web-but-only-if-youre-old-enough-whats-the-scam/

That's pretty much what we all think here. 🫡

Some of us are old enough to remember when they tried to put a Clipper chip in our devices so that they could control encryption at the device level... That was 30 years ago and I doubt that they entirely gave up on the idea. I suspect that using AI as the interface is a lot more dangerous than the...

Hardware has to be decentralised too? And internet service provider? These providers will no doubt be compelled to abide by these new “safety” laws in some way or another. How do we get around that?

The two solutions are a lot harder to achieve if you can't get onto the internet at all. With AI doing the gatekeeping, this could be a problem...

The most common law implemented by all governments is the law of unintended consequences.

Bitcoin doesnt make sense since its also trackable. Would have to be a privacy coin, the very kind of cojn they are pushing the exchanges to ban. Nostr is a big asset yes, i'd also recommend matrix as long as its not matrix.org's homeserver which is UK based and now subject to the AI safety act. ...

It’ll create more demand for vpns and privacy. The tools will get better in response. Anti fragile.

I understood that everyone bar the the totalitarians decided, rightly, that the loss of privacy is of far greater consequence https://www.zerohedge.com/political/creeping-authoritarianism-motion-against-search-engine-age-checks-passes-australian

Perfect. Hacker countries will have a booming new industry. Just watch the AI's fighting this one out.

Australia here, can confirm all of the above. Bureaucrats are forcing our Uniparty puppets into line.

How do you use cloud storage on Nostr, and how does it compare to Dropbox or OneDrive?

I'd say an additional option is to not let this happen, by helping to bring the right people in the seats.

Digital ID will determine how much water you can use per day just cuz someone wants sustainability.

In the scenario you describe, where every action on the internet is monitored and VPNs are outlawed, accessing bitcoin or nostr probably constitute significant crimes which would be detected by the AI systems you describe almost immediately and linked to your digital ID. Next thing you know, your ...
