The only thing I can tell you is if you do it correctly you won't do much fishing but you will do a lot of drinking.

I think one must find a solid area and hit it hard with a pick axes, until there's a little hole. Dress warm put fishing pole with bait in little hole, and wait for something to bite 🎣🕳️😂

Go to bars in northern Michigan and ask around. People are happy to share their hobbies with people who are interested.

Craziest thing for me was driving the car down the boat ramp, then just continuing to drive out to the shack. Freaky feeling. Seatbelts off, doors unlocked, just in case. Caught zero fish, but was a lot of fun.

Lake of the Woods or Mille Lacs in upper MN. Winter tourism is their bread and butter. Plenty of guided packages you can look into and the amenities at lodges aren’t lacking.

Yes quite easy to rent in the Midwest lots to choose from, or do yourself with a hut and auger. https://gulllakefishingcharters.com/luxury-ice-shack-rentals/ is example of low effort option, choose your own adventure though

1) get a wife or gf you so desperately need to get time away from that freezing your ass off on sub zero temps is a small price 2) get a large bottle of Grey Goose, you're gonna need it 3) trapse out 2000m on your favorite frozen lane, pretend to fish, drink the vodka and enjoy
