Is anyone on nostr actually running a legit business? I feel the majority of users on nostr are working for a company or selling homemade things on the side.

I get the feeling the majority have no business experience. Which isn't surprising since the majority of us live in a fiat system which working for ourselves isn't beneficial and gets your nowhere because the system is setup so you will fail right from the beginning.
