And beautiful. The variety of trees that grow when all the lawns aren’t manicured & the seed just germinates & grows something is just lovely

Unfortunately people who come from the city have a habit of cutting down all the trees and concreting over their entire backyards which is absolutely destroying the local environment

I can’t wait

I grew up in a midsized city where I could play on the street and had a park nearby. It was great and wanted it for my kids. I couldn’t afford that type of house so I settled in a small community outside of the city. It has been a much better lifestyle and am happy I did it.

it's just so much better. some other ex-city people try to hit me with the "oh don't you miss it?! i miss it!" and i realize we are not at all the same

The signal to noise ratio on Nostr is better for posts like this.

On a helicopter tour in Hawaii, we were shown a remote beach where the normies couldn't reach. The tour guide said, even relatively recently, real Hawaiians lived there in paradise. But when offered to relocate to the land of microwave machines and blue jeans, they all unanimously abandoned their w...

I briefly lived in a city while stationed there. Coming from the woods and having my mentality of run away as far as i can it was initially great. Created the lifestyle i always dreamed of until one night, im on my apartment balcony sipping rum and i look up. The sky is grey with an orange tint from...

Clean air. Water pumped out of the ground. No freeway noise. No sirens. No dogs barking. No people hollering in the distance. When you hear gunfire, you are happy that your neighbors are having a good time in the backyard range. If you see someone walking by, you know who it is. Your kids can play i...

Can’t even walk to the bar anymore so you gotta make your own wine

Yes. But I think much of this is just age / passage of life related. We move out to the city when we’re young and move back to outskirts when we age 🤷‍♂️

I couldn’t wait to go to The City (Chicago) when I turned 18. I was so happy to leave and come back at 24. Never strayed since

I never lived in the city. Whenever I visited. I just go how can people live here. Having a car is a nightmare. Finding the bathroom is difficult. Even navigating is hard.

Spent years in major metros, like Chicago, Phoenix, and Minneapolis. I've never felt worse than when I lived in those places. Small cities or even remote areas are amazing for your mental health. Your brain can just breath and if you're skilled enough a company will pay you plenty for it remotely ...

And interesting!! I'm having so much fun. I still love cities but am glad to be living in the countryside now.
