Bitcoin 2026 didn’t feel like a celebration. It felt like a crossroad.

The Cypherpunk phase is clearly behind us, but full capture hasn’t happened yet either. We’re on a crossroad and it shows. You’ve got institutions treating Bitcoin as just another asset, states trying to box it into policy, and builders still grinding on tools for actual sovereignty.

Those three directions don’t align. And they’re not supposed to. The tension between however them isn’t a problem, it's the reality of where Bitcoin stands right now. Everything else is just noise.

The choices we make from here onward will define the future of Bitcoin.

That future is called monero. Anything else are virtual coins to play on state-approved casinos.

The conference is like 90% bullshit, but the 10% of signal shines through.

Why can't everyone make their own choice on how to use bitcoin and what it is? We can't control others or am I being naïve?

Like the internet, it's yet another digital battleground in the perpetual cold war between freedom and tyranny.

I think the future of Bitcoin will look different in every country, region, society; at least in the short to medium term. But in the end I think it comes to: Is Bitcoin money, an asset or anything/everything else?
