That's good, real time local is a huge+ Just need to make sure the data doesn't get taken later. Like the perceived privacy of air plane mode which just sends off your location history once the radios are turned back on again.

Looks very cool, but one thing I can’t figure out … does it have to be directly connected to the HA server all the time via USB?

Have you had a chance to play with it? I still toy around with my ESP S3 Box everyone once in a while, but most of daily use cases are better done through sensors and automations. I do appreciate that you can hook up exterior speakers to this though, so might give it a shot.
