I didn't want to spend ten times more than I paid for the thermometer to connect it to home assistant, so enterprising as I am I decided to look up cheaper thread border routers.

And I found one, a Sonoff Zigbee Thread dongle.

Nowhere there it was mentioned that it seems the only way that is supposed to work is by connecting it to a whole machine with an operating system I have never heard about (eWeLink Cube) to connect it to Home Assistant.

Oh and it seems if you wanted to use Zigbee and Thread together you would have to get seperate dongles, as it seems you can only flash an image for one on each device? Oh, and it needs you to flash the right firmware on the device? And it claims you can flash the dongle with your favorite firmware...
