prepping a Boot Hill game for the next two weeks, specifically the first training scenario "The Gunfight at the OK Corral".

And honestly, I don't think this historical event would have gotten as much exposure if it hadn't taken place in a city with such a marketable name (Tombstone).

Oh and it seems if you wanted to use Zigbee and Thread together you would have to get seperate dongles, as it seems you can only flash an image for one on each device?

Oh, and it needs you to flash the right firmware on the device?

And it claims you can flash the dongle with your favorite firmware?
Favorite firmware?!

There's not even an actual manual either in the packaging or on the website. Everything seems to run over forums where people discuss how to do stuff.

and no, I haven't gotten them to run (outside of the manual "press to show temperature") because the thing needs a Thread border router. Which was a new term for me, and one that wasn't mentioned an...

And I found one, a Sonoff Zigbee Thread dongle.

Nowhere there it was mentioned that it seems the only way that is supposed to work is by connecting it to a whole machine with an operating system I have never heard about (eWeLink Cube) to connect it to Home Assistant.

Well, turns out they have the Dirigera hub on offer as well, which btw also doesn't say that you need it on it's page.

IKEA has a range of #IoT devices for rather cheap.

I bought myself three Timmerflotte thermometers because the last few days the question where in the flat it was the coolest had become rather pressing.

This was the first IoT device I had to deal with), and trying to make it work taught me three important things:

1. IoT is fucking stupid
2. Never again buy electronic devices from IKEA
3. people making and selling this shit are idiots
