Can anyone weigh in on the real life cost/benefit of going Graphene plus Pixel before I spend $1200. I want to get off the teat of iOS but I don’t want it to be a purely intellectual and tech learning pursuit. I’m bound by work to carry an apple or android device because all of our apps run on it. And the company phone I carry. So I’m pretty much negating the benefits weekdays while I am carrying that spy device. I am thinking maybe I could just forward my work line to my pixel and throw the work phone in a bag. Thanks. #asknostr #graphene

it's a way better value to go for an older Pixel. my Pixel 6 Pro is still going strong

I'm on pixel 8 with grapheneOS. I like it, not everything is as smooth as iOS. Sovereignty feel weights heavy. And I felt like a hacker flashing the device, which is also cool😂

Graphene is Android so almost all Android apps should work on it

Ditto. Graphene does not appear ready for enterprise use. Is your device enrolled and managed by work, or just running certain apps?

I’m waiting for the Motorola GrapheneOS phone.

Significant benefit and low cost. Look at the 9 series for better bang for buck.

You can create a work profile with sandboxed google play services installed versus the current complete surveillance of the phone. Unless you need the extra storage and specs a flagship model pixel is overkill for average phone users. Trust me i went back and forth for months before switching fro...

You can have a twin SIM and leave your work phone in the car, just turning it on when you go to the office. Depending on how your company handles it, you can even simply have one work user (with Google store and apps) and one personal/private user; this way you don't need two devices. I was lucky ...

It shouldn't need to cost you $1200. You can probably get one for $500ish. I don't know what work apps you need, but you might be able to get more of them than you expect. Aurora Store and GrapheneOS' version of Google Play Services helps, and you can put them all under another user if you like. In ...

Main benefits are open source app access & Bitcoin wallets without Google & IOS surveillance/ interference. I also need IOS for work so I run a dual SIM IOS device that is both my personsl KYC number +work & my Graphene Pixel phone is separate. Having two phones is cumbersome yet essential if your...

I ran both in parallel for a while before focusing on detaching myself from the iOS environment. It's much more convenient to just give all your information to Apple & Google. It takes a little work to get your Graphene phone humming but it's so worth it for the privacy.

Buy a cheap used pixel and try it out first.

I got my 8 pro for cheap after the 9 dropped. You can get 9 models for cheap, used and new. If you can wait 3 months the price will drop on 10 & 9 series once the 11 series releases, likely in August. I also have a 6a, and even the cheaper a series models run Graphene quite well. If you can get aw...

Benefit is extra security hardware that the android standard defines but folks like Samsung do not bring... I purchase a lot of used Pixel for as low as two digits... Not sure why anyone needs a smartphone or a car fresh out of the dealer... Specially if we will mod it and flash it...

Sandboxed Google Play services + a separate profile lets you switch between your personal user and work user (if you set them up that way). And don't spend $1200 on a phone FFS. If you really want to do Graphene OS, most of us do it on the El Cheapo, basically buying $300-400 refurbs on eBay or th...

I just got a Pixel 9a for $500 and put Grapheme on it. So far its made me realize how much I was being monitored through my iPhone. It is harder when apps don't work as good like push notifications or location service etc. But putting in a little more effort on my end is worth it.

Plan for a transition period it’s not a one off istall and go Especially if used to iPhone. @BTCsessions tutorial on YouTube is super helpful to get started.

I’m very pro-iPhone, and I also think regular Android is full of spyware, so paying $1200 to leave iOS doesn’t sound like an obvious win to me. If work still forces you to carry a company phone, the privacy benefit gets diluted anyway. GrapheneOS only makes sense if that tradeoff really matters ...

I bought pixel 8a brand new, it was in Europe and the price was like 350 eur.

Get a Redmagic instead for a few reasons: * Better hardware * Fuck Google * GrapheneOS makes all kinds of fake privacy claims instead of focusing on stuff that makes sense, like decentralization and user-controllability GrapheneOS is better software than stock Android or Redmagic version, but it's...
