Can anyone weigh in on the real life cost/benefit of going Graphene plus Pixel before I spend $1200. I want to get off the teat of iOS but I don’t want it to be a purely intellectual and tech learni...
It shouldn't need to cost you $1200. You can probably get one for $500ish.
I don't know what work apps you need, but you might be able to get more of them than you expect. Aurora Store and GrapheneOS' version of Google Play Services helps, and you can put them all under another user if you like.
In the end, I deleted all that. Aegis Authenticator does a great job, and the other apps weren't as dependent on Google Play as they claimed to be. The trickier ones are ones requiring payment through Google Play, etc.
It's a worthwhile adventure, and really nice to explore. But you might like to wait for a new Motorola instead of an old Pixel.
