Complaining about not enough nostr users seems like young person delusions to me. Why do we need or want a billion DAU?

Remember the internet before the term social media was common? An IRC chat with 5 people, a forum with maybe a 1000 accounts and 20 daily users. Those places were nicer places to be than X could ever aspire to be.

It just strikes me as fiat brain rot to care so much about quantity without thinking about what that does to quality.

I agree. We have this discussion at Stacker News often, as well. We want all the people who will be additive to the community and no one else. If that's just the current group, fine.

I think number of users is a proxy for long term economic viability and I tend to agree There is strength in numbers. Nostr IS subsidized by VC, grants and devs that volunteer time.
