For as long as I can remember, I’ve had an obsession with traditional German farmhouses. Lucky I married a German farmer (no coincidence!).

I love how grand and solid they are, yet how warm and homely they feel inside. They look as though they belong to the landscape.

I think my fascination began with the fairytales I read as a child, but it’s also what these houses represent. Built around family, animals, work, the seasons and the expectation that life would continue there for generations.

There’s something about that sense of stability and permanence that I find so beautiful.
