Its rather simple. You have to use an OS that doesn't have a gate keeper. Those that value sovereignty and freedom will have to use something like GrapheneOS that does not depend on Apple or Google's Apps stores.

There are also web apps. I bounce between iOS, @primal‘s website, and @noStrudel.

For Nostr the app store can't prevent you from taking your nsec and using any web based client OR if you're on Android downloading an app externally without the app store.

We bankrupt the gatekeepers.

Use a web app in the browser. Gonna be a lot less incentive for them to remove apps when there are so many other options though.
