A meeting of the Online Age Verification Forum (FOVA) brought together about 50 stakeholders, including platforms and solution providers, to lay the technical groundwork for age verification.
Starting in September, the new accounts are expected to be subject to verification, before the requirement is rolled out to all users by January.
Each verification could cost platforms about 1 centime. Another model being considered: “Users will have to watch a 5-second ad.”
The government is also reportedly promoting France Identité as one of the verification solutions.
