You have no boss, nobody tells you what to do, and yet most of what you do just runs on tracks someone else laid down. Activists and reformers look primary from a distance: they're moving, organizing, getting things done. But their version of "getting things done" usually collapses into either persuading the people in power or worming their way into the hierarchy. Being primary is something else. You create from the inside because you can't not do it, even if no one were watching. And it's rare. Apparently there are more psychopaths in the world than genuine primary creators.
