The first scenes of Batman Begins are doing nothing to disprove the hypothesis.

There isn't anything inherently wrong with the idea. I think some people would consider it part of Nolan's "naturalistic" style.

But if it is as unvarying as I suspect, it may grow boring over time & Nolan may miss opportunities to create dynamic images or use provocative visual storytelling.
