I understand what you're saying, but trials were meant to be speedy, and they rarely are. I cannot miss work for days at a time.

This is the main problem. The compensation barely covers a sandwich per day and I completely understand how disruptive it can be. I’m fortunate enough that I can take the time for jury duty if picked. There are some automatic exceptions that are good like if you’re pregnant or a full-time caretaker for a child or dependent, etc. But I understand.

Another issue is that the jury is supposed to be made up of your peers, which orginally meant that the jury consisted of people you knew or might encounter in every day life, not people who live miles away you'll never ever see. The jury doesn't know you or see themselves in you. Justice is supposed...
