I get that spam PRs for popular repos are a problem, but nothing turns me off from ever wanting to contribute to your project more than when I get an automated response like this.

I was reading your docs. I noticed a typo. As a good open source citizen, I took two minutes to correct the typo and open a tiny, clearly-formatted pull request. Spread the load, many hands make light work, etc.

But no, you just told me to get lost. Message received, I won’t try to help your project, I guess. 🤷

To be clear, some amount of automated triage is a great idea! I’m not opposed to that. But the specific assumption here is that community members are only allowed to contribute if a maintainer specifically already triaged a related issue? This makes sense for like, large features, but it’s just...
