@nprofile1q... yeah I've debated that as well, but my perspective is:

1. It's still useful as a resource for me, my friends, people I know IRL and thus still worth writing.

2. The alternative is that that knowledge would either be lost, trapped in some proprietary platform (which is probably training LLMs on my data anyway), or on social media that is almost certainly being scraped anyway.

3. I think human-authored primary sources of information will make a big comeback as people tire of AI slop.

What are “warning presets” in the Mastodon admin UI, and why is it so hard to find information about it? 😅

I presume this is just not super relevant to me as the admin of a family-only (effectively single-user) instance, but maybe there could be some explanatory text on this page, and some info in the docs. I’d be happy to contribute that if only I knew what it was!

Friendly reminder to write that blog post you’ve been putting off—but also that blog posts don’t have to be magna opera! You can just write a *little* blog post, too.

“It’s great to have a place to share your thoughts. A place you can go back to when you want to remember something you had written or thought about before. A place you can refer people to when they have questions you’ve answered in the past. A place to be you. So, get a blog, and put all the things there.”

In related news, I got a ThinkPad for work for the first time. Idk about this whole pointing stick thing. It's kinda neat but I feel like I have to concentrate about 10× harder than when just using the big ol' haptic trackpad right below.

Can anyone using Firefox on macOS or Windows do me a favor? 🙏 I’d love to see how Firefox’s picture-in-picture for video works on those platforms. For example, when I’m on YouTube, I get a ...

Is this basically the same as on macOS and Windows, or do those platforms do something nicer with that window?

Does Firefox behave consistently with other picture-in-picture apps on those platforms? Is the window always-on-top by default? Does it open in a consistent place? Does it snap to the screen edges, or is it free-floating? 👀
