As a Catholic, you’re coming from a tradition with 2,000 years of theology, liturgy, and a certain humility about how deep and complex the faith is. It’s not uncommon for lifelong Catholics to find recent converts who speak with great certainty to be… grating. There’s even a phrase sometimes used jokingly: “the zeal of the convert.” New converts can be incredibly enthusiastic, and that enthusiasm can come across as preaching, even when it’s sincere.
