The ancients called it Genius loci - "spirit of a place". It's not "haunting" although that's how people talk about it because of entertainment. It's just oozing with an aura. The architecture, trees, and even the DNA of the generations of people who have lived there cause familiar faces - but not the exact people. I'm sure because older places - like Europe - people just take it for granted, i can feel it there too, but here the ghosts know my name! The vibe is getting stronger the older i get.
Every year I go back to the old neighborhood for my Mom and her parade. My aunt, her SIL still owns the house, so we can watch the parade from that lawn. It's been going on for 52 years. At 55, I've been to most of them since. But each year is more difficult for me. The old neighborhood and house, which was my grandparents' is exuding spiritual energy. The massive oak trees were there the whole time bearing witness to five generations and that's just my family. It's alive, but there is a weight.
@nprofile1q...@nprofile1q... When we hit 95 as a high the other day I saw that it broke the previous high temp set in 1941. I thought of my grandparents and how miserable that week must have been sleeping-wise with no AC. Oh yeah - it got freaking WORSE as by the next July my grandfather was in the army!
@nprofile1q... sleeping bags on the floor of the parents' room under the ONE window AC. Add in 100% red lobster sunburn and the smell of solarcane. @nprofile1q...
I don't know about you people but somehow as MTV was ramping, during the early 80s through the mid 80s radio was my goto. In Cleveland radio, the one band that was UBIQUITOUS and played WITH the MTV pop music hits and then when that died down into "classic rock" format stations in the later 80s - Steve Miller Band. I have NINE of their songs with five stars. I don't consider them a "favorite band". But the ratings don't lie. These are filler radio tracks that I didn't change the channel for.
Alright the best thing I saw this 4th was “Alexander Hamilton” riding an adult sized “big wheel”. He went back and forth in front of our parade location pedaled fast as a 7 year old would and spun it out. Twice.
