The bit about inequality leading to more war, where incredibly wealthy people (Putin and his oligarchs, and Trump and his billionaires, for example) effectively control private armies to romp around the world gaining assets. The soldiers in those armies don't gain anything at all from the destruction and plunder, and many have no idea why they are even there — or even where "there" is — but the working and middle classes are too weak and atomized, to really mount an effective political opposition. (Well, outside of religious groups, at least).

What you see, in both Russia and the USA, is that a bizarrely-large subset of the voters have become emotionally-attached to the super-wealthy and have effectively become their loyal vassals. They do whatever their masters demand, and twist every noble idea they ever cherished into a perversion of itself, to support their rhetoric. The Oligarch Next Door. The Divine Right of Billionaires. Etc.

And then you finally realize how oligarchy and tyranny arises and countries become ruled by Mad Kings trying to conquer the world, and you realize that you are watching that happen on your phone, in real time...
