Any of the Mac Air’s with Apple silicon and 16gb ram will get you through just about any task. Don’t wast money on the pro unless you’re a serious power user. The Airs are amazing they just start to struggle on the 8gb base ram when you’re doing heavy multitasking.

If you'd even consider running local LLMs throughout its lifetime: M4 with your RAM selection. If you don't do video/graphics/gaming/LLM and often carry your laptop, consider a maxed out Air M3. I prefer my M2 Air over my work M4 Pro because it's so much lighter. Just wish Airs would get better di...

Unless you are extremely wealthy don't spend nearly $5k USD on a laptop. Get a used Thinkpad, load it with Linux then build an awesome homelab and load it with Proxmox, for half the cost.

Do you really need this specific spec’s? I mean you could get a new MacBook Air for halve the price and let the other money in Bitcoin. Over the next 5 years this would play out good.

Take the m1 or m2 chip, way better than the intel one. I have switched from i7 to m1 max 5years ago(i think) as soon as they were available and that thing is still a beast. Instant up still amazed me

Mac now forces AI on the OS. I’d buy a razer and put ubuntu on it. It will absolutely crush the competition once you get it fine tuned.

have fun setting up routes for your VPN. this option is not sufficient. it's kinda misleading people into thinking their connection is somehow private. https://m.primal.net/NRck.png

These last a long time and run very reliably. Max out any specs you don’t want to, or cannot, upgrade later. It’ll help it last comfortably as software gets more taxing over the years. I usually get 8-10 years out of one without any growing pains.

Get a Mac air for way cheaper or a Mac mini. No need to spend more than 2k
