In a development that couldn’t possibly be related to new requirements that faculty at the three Iowa Regents universities publish our syllabi publicly: Iowa State’s online, public, easy-to-search schedule of classes no longer includes instructor & location info.
In answer to my query about this, I was told by our IT support ‘it was an upper management request due to safety of the faculty and students to remove the instructor and room locations of course sections’.
Someone in University Counsel probably realized continuing to publish instructor and location details was going to cost the university a lot of money and negative PR when some violent asshole decides he’s going to play enforcer of the state’s increasing abridgments of academic freedom.
