Today, Chatty taught me that camera sensors have 4 photosites, 1 red, 1 blue and 2 green. This was invented by Bryce Bayer in 1975 and was patented in 1976 as "Color imaging array".
The second Green is used as a base reference for luminosity.
Why?
Chatty tried to explain that humans see green more vividly than other colours.
What I taught Chatty:
If you look at the visible light spectrum, such as a rainbow, green is the centre of that rainbow. That means human eyes are tuned for green and become less affective as we move away from the centre, so green is the strongest signal to use for human calibration.
