one way you know LLMs don't actually work for software development is that firms are getting rid of cheap juniors and keeping expensive seniors. if LLMs were actually good, a plucky junior + Claude could replace seniors, meaning big savings.
as it stands, everyone agrees it would be crazy to let a team of juniors armed with Codex loose on prod. of course you need experienced devs to get anything useful out of LLMs. but also, they've stopped making more experienced devs. 🤔
