The differences between #MeshCore and #Meshtastic are night and day in my experience! In my local community, we have a disaster preparedness drill we run every weekend. When I was running Meshtastic, I would get 8 contacts at my best count. After switching to MeshCore, I got 62 contacts on my first weekend. Same equipment. As at the time of this publication, there are 1295 active nodes on Meshtastic and 756 active nodes on MeshCore!

That jump in node visibility alone would make me switch without a second thought. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ You can check our daily survival story & updates pinned at the top of my profile if you'd like to read more.

Can you explain why it works that way? I'm trying both out from time to time yo check the vibes, but for now it wasn't particularly useful for anything beyond experimentation

Meshcore seems more bullshitty about "open source" Both are though - LoRa is proprietary and they both lie about that I prefer meshtastic but I guess I might switch if meshcore actually had a network in my area like meshtastic does

I used to think the same but meshtastic appears to scale way better where I'm at. It was just a matter of finding a better preset (not LongFast). We now have hundreds of kms of range without saturation with more than 200 nodes.
