According to The Slop Machine, it's about 8% of the size of the gasoline market. So it's not "small", but it really doesn't take that many bean-counters making that many decisions before the arbitrage...

@Caleb James DeLisle @Pawlicker 🐾😹 @nprofile1q... At face value yes, I am in favor of EVs, especially as someone who could charge one in a day off solar a few times over. BUT, I am more in favor of reparability, maintainability, and replaceable parts. EVs have a long way to go before they're not just unmaintainable black boxes on wheels.

The biggest issue is software availability and aftermarket parts, both of which are largely solved problems for ICE vehicles but completely ignored for EVs, and EV manufacturers are not incentivized to support either of these things.

Re point 7, not all EVs are alike. Look up "Leaf Battery Rebuild" on YT. There's guys doing shit I wouldn't even do... Battery cells off Alibaba, etc. Some of them are indeed total black boxes, DYOR.
