This is one reason I think the Greek behind “sin” matters.
The Greek hamartia carries the sense of missing the mark—to err, to fall short. The language is one of aim: you intended to hit the mark, and you missed.
You missed the mark. Okay. See it clearly. Course correct. Do better next time.
That is very different from “I was wrong, therefore I am a horrible person.”
A life of sin, in that sense, is simply a life spent continually missing the mark.
Adjust your aim.
