Somehow I ended up in a mainstream cinema to watch "The Odyssey" ... and we left about half way into the movie!
Plain and clear, in my view it's a disgraceful pile of garbage. I don't know the director.. But only a psychopath can turn a millennia old story about the timeless human journey from ego home to love into such a nonsensically violent nervous system wrecking shitshow.
There is no beauty, there's no humaneness, there's no depth. The original story was told from mouth to mouth at human gatherings for thousands of years, because it touches the human soul and its earthly struggle at it's core.
After this movie, nobody goes home to share anything with anyvbody. You come home dull and psychologically traumatized. You come home waiting for the government to provide for you, because you are depressed as heck believing you've been born into a genuinely evil, psychotic world and there's nothing you can do about it.
I wonder why Matt Damon after seeing the movie didn't straightout slap the director in the face with an ancient Greek leather gauntlet asking if there was no dignity left in him.
Folks, there's lots of work to be done. To bring the magic and beauty of life back into our human consciousness.
