Now Lasius emarginatus is from Italy and Europe so a heat wave shouldn't kill them. But I haven't seen them since that heat wave.

I almost want to go into Manhattan and check on the colonies I know there and see if they are still around.

None of the other ants have shown this kind of change. But it could just be a fluke.
