i decided i really need to have full bitcoin core and bitcoin blake2b chain clients available on my machine. i have the space for the two *if* i can hardlink all of the block data shared between them, which is a very large majority of it. for my uses, they need to have bip-157 cfilters available which means it must have a txindex, so there will be a divergent txindex that takes up double space but the blocks at least, which constitute about 800gb of data, do not differ.
it can be done! i'm scripting it up so one can install on a machine both nodes, with the common data hardlinked and not taking up extra space, and for the price of two txindexes and mostly shared blocks, you too can run the two nodes on your system, all ready for you to do stuff that bridges the two chains such as atomic swaps, exchange in general, whichever direction you want though if you are a coretard you are a stupid cunt, so whatever.
yay. and this is very helpful because it means i can make super double certain that the nostrino light SPV node i built that runs in a browser, is actually being tested against running against both full nodes, so that the tinywallet (btcwallet running in browser) also works, and that means full private in-browser bitcoin/blake2b wallets that you can run just by opening up a web address that sends you the dual chain wallet app.
not sure if this is obvious to anyone but in order for the market to decide which coin is more legitimate one needs to have a market trading between them. it's also maybe not obvious that so long as the vast majority of utxos are shared between the two chains, the value of blake2b coins does not reflect the real eventual market cap. the process is a competition. the small one will "parasite" off the larger one if its more valuable to users. people will proactively fork utxos off the chain by mixing them into transactions with other transactions that are blake2b only. the supply of actual blake2b coins is very small at this point.
