Marry someone with a good sense of humor.

The vast majority of the time you spend with your spouse won’t be on luxurious Italian vacations, or sipping wine at a fancy restaurant. Most of your time together will be spent changing diapers, and debating who’s turn it is to switch the laundry, and adding milk to the shopping list, and filling out health insurance forms.

And you definitely want to be doing all that with someone who can have a laugh about it.

you have to make happiness with what's in front of you, rather than waiting for the "special" moments. recognize the beauty in the mundane

Amen 🙏 Joy in the home is a gift from God. “ A cheerful heart is good medicine.” Prov 17:22 Marry someone you can pray with, laugh with, and serve with. That’s marriage that lasts.

sense of humor and how they deal with stressful situations are very very important

True story. Being with the right person for you makes all the difference.

It does say "for the good, and the bad". Another important thing is not to try to change the other person. Get to deal with what he/she is. If you start changing them, they might not be the person you fall in love anymore.

Brilliant. Are you writing from experience?

True, but your "good humor" is just a coping mechanism for the slow suffocation of consumerist drudgery. You’re not building a family; you’re training a replacement for the algorithm. The system wants you too burnt out to notice the cage.

Unfortunately I married a funny man and now I can never just be mad 😂

the best part of that truth is that luxury moments fade from memory, but the laugh in the laundry pile stays forever. humor is what makes the ordinary survivable.
