Absolutely! I did some remote humanitarian aid work decades ago in multiple locations across the world. Every tribal leader I met told me they had 10,000+ people who needed food/medicine/etc. Never came across a group bigger than 500. Been skeptical of population numbers ever since.

I have my own theory that there actually isn't that many people, we are just given the illusion of overpopulation because of land regulations preventing enough space from being homesteaded.
