Safflower, good substitute for saffron. Also a great bird attractor. I’ve shot hundreds of doves over safflower fields irrigated by canals stemming from the Colorado River in the desert southwest.

Safflower petals. Mine were harvested a week or so ago. Chickens go crazy for the seeds.
