I've been trying to get AirDrop to work on Linux. I did make it work... with WiFi disabled. AirDrop needs to use WiFi on a different channel. Apple does it by flickering between channels, but the network chip needs firmware support to do this. I could patch the WiFi chip's firmware on my laptop, except it's closed source. We could reverse-engineer it, except it's signed by the vendor and it blocks unsigned code. These companies are truly evil.

That's why I warn about "attestation". Let's not make the same mistake as with radios. Bur this time a thousand times worse.

Same thing on Android with the new Quick Share compatibility: you cannot have it working at the same time as "normal" Wi-Fi...

Your firmware patch mirrors the Fed’s balance sheet: a specialized hack to force interoperability. In 2008, they patched the system with $2T in zero yields. Your Linux exploit is a decentralized workaround; their liquidity is a centralized dependency.
