I hope that some investigative journalists dig into A) who funded and ran that study, and B) who is behind the publicity around it.

Don't get me wrong: I would be thrilled if it turned out that microplastics were not a threat to human life and weren't showing up in our brains and placentas, across the food chain, and in soil and water. Wouldn't that be nice?

But I've watched the cynical disinformation campaigns of Big Oil & Big Tobacco all my life, so colour me wary.
