Unpopular opinion, Bitcoin blocks should be much smaller and slower, and support a 2WP to a single merge mined sidechain where blocks can be as fast and large as miners vote for (Rootstock proves that miners don't vote their way to centralisation).

The slow small blocks are an expensive clock that can't be safely pruned.

The fast large blocks are as ephemeral as the challenge period in the 2WP, the real limit on them is broadcasting, not initial block download.

What can we have of that;
1. The 2WP will probably remain a multisig or at best a BitVM setup for like 10 years or something.
2. Small slow blocks are possible in my opinion, but we can still cope with the status quo
3. The sidechain already exists and you can use it now if you want, and they even have improvement proposals for ephemeral blocks since forever, they just didn't see the demand yet, go use it.

This reminds me of the hybrid DAG-blockchain model that Hathor uses, how would this sidechain compare to that?

You basically get two tier security; 1. Idle security on L1 where your coins are safe no matter what because you downloaded all the history. 2. Live security; where you (or someone you trust) have to have been online at least once in the past few weeks to challenge any invalid checkpoint attempt ...

I agree. I'm curious why you became such a Rootstock enthusiast recently, but yes, it's crazy that people aren't using it. To be fair I tried to use it a couple of times in the past and I struggled a lot with the tooling, the wallets, everything was confusing. Also I couldn't figure out how to de...

thinking about rootstock what prevents someone from doing tornado cash in there (without the unnecessary governance token) and attracting bitcoiners who want to freely and noncustodialy mix their coins?
