The first week off alchohol after drinking regularly for years is enlightening. The chemicals are all out of wack, i feel like a different person. Not better per say, just different. even a bit down to the lack of constant dopamine injections. Didn’t realize how strong of an effect it’s been having on me.

Quit drinking when I was 23. My life has consistently gotten better since.
Rojo · 67w
Keep going. Eventually drinking won’t be appealing anymore.

Keep it up... It takes a while to reset. There is no healthy amount of alcohol sadly... Especially once the connections are made. I gave it up a year and a couple months ago. Quit the sweet sweet reefer this January... It is crazy how much I dream now.... It's almost like my sleep isn't as good.... ...

if you do this for a few weeks and then drink alcohol again, it also feels totally strange

Try GABA, Or Gamma Amino Butyric Acid supplements. Alcohol is only a few molecules away from GABA, And your body processes it as such. GABA supplements can help the lower intestine start producing more GABA naturally, And help curve cravings. DT tremors are a side effect of the lower intestine not p...

How much were you drinking on average?

The body will thank you and liver will get rejuvenated 👦
MatCo · 67w
It depends on how much you were drinking. There’s nothing wrong with a couple of glasses of wine a day.
Alejandro · 67w
Congrats and keep going. Also remember that there is nothing wrong with enjoying a drink with a friend or your spouse every now and then. The key is to rarely drink

Stick to it. Welcome to the fourth dimension.

This reminds me of how George Costanza stopped having sex and then became a genius. I'm sure you'll be solving the biggest problems of humanity with ease very soon. In all seriousness, well done loving and respecting yourself.

As someone who has gone through what you are going through several times. Your liver is thanking you for the reprieve. It is time to heal yourself and stay off the persistent booze before it puts you in an early grave. This happened to a friend of mine and I miss her dearly. I don't want to see it ...

My first week as well. Definitely feels strange.
Force2B · 66w
Cold plunge or shower in the morning elevates dopamine levels to about 75% of what you would get from alcohol but doesn’t have the sudden crash, stays elevated 4-6 hours

i'm 10months in to that journey (tho i've lowered consumption significantly couple years before) and I dont really feel much of a difference.

Did dry January for the first time. This was the first time in my adult life that I didn't drink for more than 2-3 days. For me, the revelation was pretty underwhelming: Next to no difference,. Only a little less merry 😄 Having said that: I do drink noticeably less and the first few beers taste...

My one year target anniversary off alcohol ended in 31st Dec 24. I haven’t had a drink since either. I think I am done. Don’t think I’ll go back. No alcohol >>>> alcohol.

To me the most conspicuous effect was how much more focused I have become to reach my goals. No-alcohol should be energizing by itself but coupled with regular exercise, even a mini workout but at least 4/7, works real wonders. The extra energy drives action forward because you can't dampen it now ...

I'm on 3rd week, first time in my adult life. Better sleep, better concentration, much more energy, no dilusion. I hope I will be able to keep it on. Because there's a known story about Old Joe who decided to stop alcohol. And as he returned home he passed from first pub, then a second one and on th...

I have noticed that the more healthy and in shape that I am, the more sick that I feel after a night of drinking. Alcohol really isn't worth it, especially when you get older. Maybe like a glass of wine with a steak for flavor, or a new year's toast of champagne.
Dr. Cassone · 66w
Good job! I just covered alcohol metabolism last week in a class I teach. It's a powerful drug for sure. The human body is better without it.

I quit drinking a few weeks ago. Had been drinking pretty much everyday for the last 15 years. I did ween myself off if it over a long period, over a year. I finally decided to completely stop. Primarily because it makes extra weight stick to me, and it causes brain fog. I also quit smoking weed. I ...
