I had an interaction with Coinbase team about their payment gateway. I asked why they don't just support Lightning - instant payments. Their reply was user experience.

For two days, I am trying to help a friend pay a Coinbase payment gateway invoice using their super complicated setup. He is a sysadmin, so no tech newbie. He is not a customer of coinbase, he just wants to pay an invoice using an open payment network.

Juggling wallets, picking the right chain, walletconnect hell, ...

User friendly, yeah :).

Meanwhile, people paying with lightning: scan or open an invoice in a wallet, click send, instant confirmation, almost no fees, done.

Reconsider.

Yeah, it's so ridiculous. Wrapped Bitcoin on Tron chain maybe? But careful, don't send your wrapped Bitcoins from Foo Chain which uses the same address format. If you to, you lose it all.

that's the whole pitch though, scan, confirm, done. no chain selection, no walletconnect, no waiting for confirmations. the ux argument actually favors LN.

But coinbase does support LN…?

No ofrecemos Lightn...
