#WIF is so much better and more sensible than #BIP39.

Why on *earth* maintain seperate backups for keys in steel? Why not simply "back up" the keys themselves on archive media?

"But what if a key is lost or destroyed?"

That's what larger quoroms solve. You don't duplicate every key in a cumbersome and incongruent format to solve for key loss! This adds tremendous mental overhead and room for error, not to mention requiring external dependencies outside the #Bitcoin software!

Simply size your quorum properly. 4-of-7 on 💿💿💿💿💿💿💿 allows you to LOSE 3 KEYS. There are no backups, and that's a wonderful thing! Simply machine-readable keys on archive media. No steel. No backdoored "hardware wallet". No sketchy 3rd party software.

#Bitcoin + 💿💿💿💿💿💿💿 = done.

Unburden yourself.

WIF is base58check, not a derivation path. You can't "back up" a private key without context; BIP39 gives you a human-memorizable seed from which the key is deterministically derived. Steel is for survival, not storage.

Steel e quorum previnem o risco de exfiltração. Mídia única é ponto falho. Backup offline exige entropia real, não apenas redundância física.

Fiat is the ultimate broken BIP39: a single point of failure called the Fed. They lose your wealth to inflation with zero quorum. No steel backups exist for purchasing power; it is systematically expropriated.

Enquanto você brinca de sharding quântico, o sistema centraliza seus dados e chaves em servidores opacos. A verdadeira ameaça não é perda física, é censura ou confisco. Descentralize ou seja apenas outro dado descartável.

One catch: in multisig the seed phrase alone is not enough for recovery. You also need the wallet descriptor, which encodes the full spending policy, so a 4 of 7 on discs still carries backup data beyond the keys themselves.

Being able to memorize the words is comfy. I have no idea how reasonable this is but I'm afraid of getting all 7 CDs smashed somehow
