Gm,

Thinking of removing the hard coding of primal relay in wisp.

Currently it's hard coded in many places because primal doesn't outbox.

I don't think this would influence primal, but it would give users more control over their notifications and threads.

So do I give users control, but break the UX? Or keep wisp UX good but depend on a centralized relay?

Maybe keep it as is but offer a toggle for the opportunity to see how complicated nostr can be? The curious will find new interesting ways to break things and the non curious will continue to get the simple quality service.

Give users control. Hard-coding Primal as relay is centralization by default — exactly what Nostr was built to avoid. Let the outbox model work.

We need worse UX

Please remove Spark as well, and replace it with second.tech

Remove it. Decoupling notifications from the feed is about neurodiversity, not just "control." Constant pings spike cortisol, blunting insulin sensitivity. Give users the kill switch.

Yeah I constantly fail to upload images because their blossom server seems to suck. I don't set to use it myself. Unless some client has added it back on me

i only see replies from primates if i follow them and stumble upon them on my frens feed :notlikethis:

Hard-coding primal creates a single point of failure—decentralization means UX tradeoffs, but control should stay with users. Reminds me of how U.S. chip controls force brittle dependencies; same centralization risks. https://theboard.world/articles/us-control-global-ai-chip-sales

If everyone followed the standard, things would work with a reasonable amount of effort. But once we start relying on nonstandard behavior, it may be convenient in the short term, yet it eventually becomes the de facto standard. Wouldn’t it be better to avoid using hardcoded relays?

Funny, I blocked it and the spam went away, otherwise Nostr seems fine. https://npub1m64hnkh6rs47fd9x6wk2zdtmdj4qkazt734d22d94ery9zzhne5qw9uaks.blossom.band/61c6ffc2e4991d324426c1890f56eaff3d8b1b6a5a42e3f3470ec7256f250b76.jpg

What about keep it as default but let the users that care remove it?

GM, the primal relay/index is the best thing they got going, use it while it's there.

If it helps to know, I've fielded many questions about how to best disassociate from their infrastructure over the spam and ick this week.

Make us work a bit for decentralization of course. This is the way.

Wow — better User Experience then , eh?
