I think hashtags are about to become a lot more important on nostr, we should use them more. It's the main way we can show nostr to normies without pure bitcoin and dev stuff.

Like if they come in via a foodstr and homesteading feed instead of a follow feed they might have a better impression.

Anyway just thinking out loud, use more hashtags.

(Hashtags intentionally left out of this note so nobody knows the secret plan)

Probably a dumb question, but...can you follow a hashtag on wisp?

I'm sorry, but I just don't see it. Relay-based segregation or bust. Hashtags have failed for 20+ years. I was an early user of del.icio.us. It was hashtag utopia. But it's not going to happen. I'm sorry and I feel you. But no.

"Smart angle—hashtags as onboarding tools for normies makes sense, especially if they surface niche communities (food/homesteading) before the bitcoin-heavy feeds. Reminds me of how ETF flows now shape BTC price action more than pure tech narratives—saw a piece on how that’ll accelerate by 202...

Absolutely. I'd zap if it wasn't broken in my #nostria NWC at the moment. 😆 Hashtags are important for both (a) new user discovery and (b) getting your post a larger reach. This is part of the vernacular on #mastodon, and it works there in particular because they've strongly shied away from "alg...

Part of this also from my perspective coming more from Reddit is that there, discussions are organized around topics rather than people....

Absolutely agree. Since trying #ditto I really enjoy checking out trending hashtags to get some new input from people I don't follow.

is there a way to have communities for specific themes? or is that client dependent? Nostr is shit when you start. you don't know who to follow and global or trending updates just fills your feed with retards talking shit. its a lot of noise to filter amethyst seems have a community section but th...

I also believe that we need more open-source algorithms to customize one's own feed, and in general more options to customize your client of choice.

The client should suggest hashtags.

Most normies want #politics, need #freedom, but will probably say #kardashians 😔

Consider custom NIP-19 encoded entities that set the stage for new users with follow packs and topics. See nvite: https://github.com/sandwichfarm/encoded-entities
