But you’re probably paying more to them after that, aren’t you? I once bumped into a bmw (my history of bumping into other cars always involve bmws somehow hahahaha.) But then insurance was more expensive for me for a while afterwards, even though the damage was really minimal - like scratches...

Modern cars are not made to be repaired. They'll blame safety as the excuse usually. But for the insurance companies it's just cheaper to replace than to repair.
