There is a reason many restaurants pop up on the same corner, or in a mall, are all in the same food court.

It's actually better for business to be next to your competitors, because customers all know they can just head to that one corner and have many options, so overall traffic increases.

But when restaurants on the corner are broken, covered in graffiti and give you food poisoning, it hurts all the businesses around it.

The same is true of nostr clients.

The entire protocol can grow even if individual clients are "competing" - remember that users like more than one restaurant. I mean client. But if a bunch of them are broken, they won't bother trying other ones.

There were literally 3 greek restaurants in my city almost next to eachother. in fact 2 were on a corner with just a single restaurant in between. i always suspected they just shared their kitchen. one of them is gone now so it's probably not the case. with nostr i used amethyst for the first hear....

It is a cool thesis and i suspect you might be right but its too early to tell I suspect one path for nostr is just "its like good plastic surgery you cant even tell"
