Today someone showed me a feature on snapchat that allows you to search for public posts geographically.

It's interesting because you're able to zoom in on places like Iran, Gaza Strip and see what life is like there. This can be a good check on the usual propaganda outlets. For example, Iran is far more developed than many in the west realize and I didn't see any posts about the ongoing conflict.

The conditions in Gaza were unsurprisingly terrible, but there are some beautiful families doing their best. I thought to myself about what they might be able to do with bitcoin if I sent them some. I also wondered if there was some way to teach them about nostr.

I'm going to reach out to one of these families and see where it goes. We don't speak the same language, but that doesn't matter anymore. If the tech we are building is useful at all, maybe it will be useful to people who are in bad situations, but still have internet access.
