I think this sums it up tbh. If this direction continues bitcoin is destined to fail or be completely captured. The only fud that really matters IMO.

The framing of NgU as a peer-to-peer mechanism hinges critically on a network effect that’s demonstrably absent from current investment flows; observing this shift toward institutional dominance reveals an unexpectedly acute understanding of Bitcoin's trajectory.

If most btc gets kycd through etfs and blacckrock then btc is as good as broken.

Gm, This all goes back to SoV, MoE, MoA and which comes first. Realistically it's SoV first, but we need to be working on MoE in parallel. Right now fiat and shitcoins are more convenient, but the trade offs are unacceptable over the long run. This process will take time. In the meantime it se...

If it's not a peer to peer cash system, we've wasted 17 years. That simple.

Bitcoin has been co-opted by religious fundamentalists and private equity, both tearing down any semblance of the cypherpunk ethos it was founded on. It’s really a sad way to go out…

It is money that the few who are responsible enough to custody it can. Those that do that will win. Trying to have "everyone" or even the majority win is not possible. Humble sat stacks will keep stacking and eating up the supply slowly, always setting the floor. As it becomes worth more, medium of...

What changed? did Bitcoin change or the cycle of who is currently adopting it? Not just one cycle, many cycles.

I don’t think it’s that simple. It’s going to be everything. I use it as money plenty, and it’s also my savings. I know many other individuals who do the same. It is and can continue to be e-cash and corporate treasure / ETF and a bunch of other shit too. As long as I can use it as cash an...

The store of value aspect enables the currency to move significant value. If 10% of Bitcoin is P2P, but the market cap is $30 trillion, that’s more P2P Bitcoin activity than occurring today. Along as the protocol remains the same and works for those who want P2P, does it matter that paper bitcoin...

peer-to-peer cash and institutional capture aren't mutually exclusive paths, they're parallel economies running on the same rails. the existence of ETFs doesn't invalidate the ability to transact person to person, it just creates a noisy floor where most people never bother looking up. your thesis ...

For bitcoin to be peer to peer cash it needs second and third layers which aren’t exactly Bitcoin. As long as it’s a decentralized final settlement system then the second and third layers should fall into place. Agree we ultimately need to be using the higher layers as peer to peer cash but comp...

yes. Bitcoin is nowhere near being a p2p cash system, anyone claiming so is dillusional. Digital gold, or whatever you want to call it, is reasonable as well, but it is not going to change the world in ways many Bitcoiners hope it will.

I can argue that you can earn in Bitcoin and live in a place like Curacao. A lot of merchants accept Bitcoin and nobody stays between your hard earned Bitcoin and the merchants. Conversion rate is 100% of your work to purchases ( except whatever taxes the merchants pay ).
uncleJim21 · 3d
you can live on bitcoin and escape the gaze of the Eye of Sauron every day by using Square merchants alone The problem is it's a use it or lose it situation. Especially if you have NKYC bitcoin imo it's an imperative to spend it in your community.
