The coach for the other team is also referee. Does that analogy make it clearer? You cannot have the miners deciding what is valid, which is apparently how Bitcoin works now.

You do not have a fair and free game when the other team's coach is also the umpire.

That analogy does work very well for me. I’m just not seeing how so… The miners control which transactions they take into the block. But if those miners start trying to be selective with who’s transactions get validated more miners will go online who don’t apply those rules. Mining will bec...
